This is a direct comparison of the MHI 8-Turbo vs the MHI 9-Turbo at the same boost on the same car. Graph 3: Evo VIII with 8-Turbo (10.5) vs 9-Turbo I would say the next turbo upgrade past a Evo9 Turbo would be the FP-Red if staying with a factory based bolt-on turbo, but I would jump into a Twinscroll BorgWarner S200 or Garrett 30R getting the spool of an FP-Green but the power of exactly what was used. Detroit Diesel FP Diesel offers the most complete coverage in the. I would say the FP-green is worth some power over the MHI-Evo9 Turbo, but not enough to justify its expense.Įvo VIII owners should consider the FP-Green as a substantial improvement over the 8-Turbo, but not over the 9_turbo. TURBO-DIESEL-FREAK said: 1) The tune of your choice from Green Diesel Engineering. The Fp-Green equipped Evo is also running slightly higher boost which can also contribute to some power increase. The fuel choice isn’t all the increase but is defiantly some of it. You can see in this graph there is a substantial improvement in power from 4000-6300rpm, but because the FP-Green equipped Evo9 is running E85 it will naturally make a little more power. Stock Motor w/ Cams (can’t remember at this moment which ones) Graph2 Evo IX w/Stock Turbo vs Evo IX w/FP Green I also want to add that the FP-Green will never spool faster or the same as a 9-Turbo or 8-Turbo as I have seen some people state that it will. I don’t think there will be any arguments here. The Evo VIII was also running 4psi more by redline than the EvoIX. So yes the Evo IX has variable timing, but the Evo VIII does have an AEM without the MAF and a Magnus SIM that we have shown to make more power than the stock intake manifold toward the last third of the powerband. They do rate the turbo at 700cfm, but from what we have tested it seems to fall a little short of those numbers.ġst Graph Evo VIII w/FP-Green vs Evo IX w/Stock TurboĪll the customers that have come in with the FP-Green all run higher boost levels (over 25psi) so I don’t have a great depiction of a lower boost level FP-Green. Larger Compressor Cover w/increased A/RĪ hybrid turbocharger made by Forced Performance useing the new developments by MHI (Mitsubishi Heavy Industries) and stuck a larger compressor and turbine wheel in it increasing the flow to around approx. The 9-Turbo came with a few improvements over the 8-Turbo for 2006 when it was released making it the largest Mitsubishi turbo used on the 4G63. Shortly after the 9-Turbo release Forced Performance took it another step furthur by offering their 9-Green Model using the 9-Turbo housings making it a direct bolt-on upgrade. The CT9A chasssis came with a few different turbo configurations with a large improvement in 2006 with EvoIX the MHI-9-Turbo. This comparison was done to show the difference in the OEM turbo options and a good initial upgrade for the EvoVIII and IX. The odd thing is on the mobile version of Discord they don’t source their GIFs from, but instead, use Tenor. The scrollbar is also very hard to click because it’s so skinny. Trust me this is sometimes not enough when you’re trying to find that perfect GIF after a long day. In the desktop version of Discord, you can also type /giphy, but you only have a selection of 10 different GIFs. We have all sorts of emojis set up for different moods and emotions. You can also use animated emojis! While this shouldn’t be the main selling point, I can’t tell you how often an emoji has made a stressful day better. The free Slack plan has no limit on the number of emojis you can create. You can also assign a keybinding to mute yourself quickly. The one advantage Discord does have they have voice-only channels and push to talk! Push to talk is pretty handy, especially if your eating. Servers are essentially the same thing as workspaces in Slack. □ There is also no limit on the number of workspaces you can create or join.ĭiscord has a limit of 500 on channels and 100 on servers. Although, for anyone that has been in a big workspace, you might say this is a negative. Slack lets you create an unlimited amount of channels. I’m sure the team at Slack knows how far behind their video is, and I would assume they’re working on something to improve it eventually. Often, we’ll hop on Discord for video if we know we’re going to be in a lengthy call. Slack also is lacking mobile video calls (voice only). In Discord, you can snap the video on top, rearrange the video by dragging. If you’ve ever used Discord’s video, I’m sure you’d agree. Slack’s video isn’t anything to write home about in terms of quality, and neither is the audio. The video in Discord is light years beyond Slack. OK, so even though we moved back to Slack, we still have Discord installed. In other words, a single person could contribute more towards the server than someone else. They allow anyone to contribute, and users can do it multiple times. The Nitro plans with Discord work a little different than Slack plans. You get way more bang for your buck in terms of features, especially if you compare the free plans. When it comes to pricing, Discord is cheaper. I like to get into all the day-to-day stuff which others tend to leave out. Regardless of opinions or preferences, if you’re comparing Slack vs Discord at all, you should hopefully find something useful in here.
Whether … And the Earth Did Not Devour Him is a collection of short stories or a novel, most critics believe it reveals the realities of Chicano social history. A number of them function as anecdotal glimpses into opinions, mentalities, and lives of migrant workers and their families while revealing deeper concerns. The stories are tied together by a young male narrator who is trying to understand who he is and remember things he does not necessarily completely understand, culminating in the last story of the book, "Under the House." Many of the stories are subjective, involve characters that change from story to story, and lack a definite chronology. In Book Report, Sherry York claims "while seem simple, they are powerful tales that portray a dignity in the face of adversity." However, there is critical division over whether the book is a collection of related short stories or a novel. Several stories in the book are specifically about education, unsurprising considering the author's primary career was working at various universities as an instructor, professor, and administrator.Ĭritics agree about the strength of the stories Rivera tells in … And the Earth Did Not Devour Him. In addition, Rivera underscores the importance of education as a means of liberation for farm workers and their children. Religion and faith play important roles in their lives as do family and community. While there is much suffering and uncertainty in many of the stories, Rivera also emphasizes the resilience and determination of the migrant workers. Rivera explores the effects of economic and social injustice. Set after World War II, from about 1945 to 1955, the stories and vignettes that make up … And the Earth Did Not Devour Him show the racism and discrimination Chicano migrant workers encountered, even among their peers. Drawing on his background and own experiences, he explores many aspects of this lifestyle and how it affects those directly involved. Rivera was himself the son of migrant workers and a migrant worker himself until he completed junior college. A later translation by Evangelina Vigil-Piñón, first published in 1988, is considered the definitive English version.įrom its first publication,… And the Earth Did Not Devour Him has been praised by critics for its depiction of the harsh life of migrant agricultural workers in the United States, its sense of realism that had previously not been a part of Chicano literature, and its innovative literary form. Y no se lo tragó la tierra was first published in 1971 in a bilingual edition, with an English translation by Herminio Ríos. Written in 19, the book was awarded the premiere Quinto Sol Prize for literature in 1970…. Its success made author Tomás Rivera a leading figure in this genre. Originally published in Spanish as … y no se lo tragó la tierra,… And the Earth Did Not Devour Him is a seminal work of Chicano literature and one of the first books in the emerging literature of Mexican Americans. The Gap Between the Financial Advice You Need and.Short Takes: Robo-Advisors, Retirement Magic Numbe.Telling Us What We Want to Hear about Our Retireme.Short Takes: Optimal Asset Allocation, Foreign Wit.Short Takes: Retirement Magic Number and more.I hope this spreadsheet helps some people, but as always, I can’t guarantee anything about the results it produces. It’s certainly true that many people of all age groups waste money in ways that don’t really improve their lives much, but I think it is also true that older people have less capacity for ultra-frugal living than the young have.Īs always, I’m interested in feedback on these ideas, particularly if you see any problems. I meet few people over 50 who find that their low spending in youth suits them now that they’re older. The need for retirement income is assumed to last through the users projected planning horizon which is assumed to be age 93 unless a different age is specified. While I could go back to living on $2000 or less per month, I don’t want to. The personal retirement number, or retirement goal, is based on purchasing a hypothetical annuity with a discount rate (return) of 4.87 which will last through retirement. I find that some people in their 30s tend to think they can get by on a very low income. Your mileage may vary.Īs with any retirement planning exercise, a challenge is to add the right amount of safety margin. So, for this couple, a million dollars isn’t enough. Their retirement magic number works out to $1,636,000. Once retired, they plan to keep 5 years’ worth of spending in safe investments, and the rest in low-cost index stock funds that they hope will beat inflation by an average of 4% per year. They plan to retire at 55 and will collect $2000 per month in other income (rising with inflation) starting at age 65. The spreadsheet’s example figures are based on a couple seeking after-tax retirement income of $6000 per month (rising with inflation). I threw in some example figures, but you’ll have to change the values in the yellow boxes to customize it to your own situation. (To edit this spreadsheet, you need to go to the “File” menu and “Make a copy”.) I added a second page to this spreadsheet that collects some more inputs from you and calculates your retirement magic number. I added another page to the spreadsheet that computes the percentage of a portfolio that you can spend each year in retirement based on a set of inputs you supply. But we can turn this around and calculate how much you need to save to retire using this spending strategy. The focus was on turning a lump-sum portfolio into an income stream for retirement. Lately, I’ve been writing a fair bit about a proposed strategy for retirement spending in retirement ( first description, adding income smoothing, yearly spending percentages, experimental results using 100 years of investment returns). Here I offer an answer based on a proposed retirement spending strategy that takes into account your unique circumstances. We hear arguments over whether a million dollars is enough, as though there is a single number that applies to everyone. How much money do you need to save to retire? This is an important question that gets a lot of debate but few useful answers. With the production of Big Buck Bunny, Blender gained the ability to produce grass quickly and efficiently. Sculpt-Modeling as a result of Google Summer of Code 2006. In particular, the Node-System (Material- and Compositor) has been implemented. The film Elephants Dream resulted in high development as a necessity. Improvements of the game engine (programmable vertex and pixel shaders, using Blender materials, split-screen mode, improvements to the physics engine), improved UV mapping, recording of the Python scripts for sculpture or sculpture works with the help of grid or mesh (mesh sculpting) and set-chaining models. New functionality was based on Google Summer of Code 2005. Greatly improved system and character animations (with a non-linear editing tool), and added a fluid and hair simulator. Simulation of elastic surfaces improved subdivision surface. LSCM-UV-Unwrapping, object-particle interaction. Ray tracing in internal renderer support for YafaRay. The first truly open source Blender release. Linux and FreeBSD version, port to OpenGL and X11. The following table lists notable developments during Blender's release history: green indicates the current version, yellow indicates currently supported versions, and red indicates versions that are no longer supported (though many later versions can still be used on modern systems). The largest Blender contest gives out an award called the Suzanne Award. It is as easily added to a scene as primitives such as a cube or plane. A low-polygon model with only 500 faces, Suzanne is included in Blender and often used as a quick and easy way to test materials, animations, rigs, textures, and lighting setups. Suzanne is Blender's alternative to more common test models such as the Utah Teapot and the Stanford Bunny. It was created by Willem-Paul van Overbruggen (SLiD3), who named it Suzanne after the orangutan in the Kevin Smith film Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. As a sort of Easter egg and last personal tag, the artists and developers decided to add a 3D model of a chimpanzee head (called a " monkey" in the software). Nevertheless, they put out one more release, Blender 2.25. In February 2002, it was clear that the company behind Blender, NaN, could not survive and would close its doors in March. In 2019, with the release of version 2.80, the integrated game engine for making and prototyping video games was removed Blender's developers recommended that users migrate to more powerful open source game engines such as Godot instead. Blender is solely available under "GNU GPLv2 or any later" and was not updated to the GPLv3, as "no evident benefits" were seen. However, this option was never exercised and was suspended indefinitely in 2005. The Blender Foundation initially reserved the right to use dual licensing so that, in addition to GPL 2.0-or-later, Blender would have been available also under the "Blender License", which did not require disclosing source code but required payments to the Blender Foundation. Today, Blender is free and open-source software, largely developed by its community as well as 24 employees employed by the Blender Institute. On September 7, 2002, it was announced that they had collected enough funds and would release the Blender source code. The campaign aimed at open-sourcing Blender for a one-time payment of €100,000 (US$100,670 at the time), with the money being collected from the community. On July 18, 2002, Roosendaal started the "Free Blender" campaign, a crowdfunding precursor. In May 2002, Roosendaal started the non-profit Blender Foundation, with the first goal to find a way to continue developing and promoting Blender as a community-based open-source project. This also resulted in the discontinuation of Blender's development. After NeoGeo's dissolution, Ton Roosendaal founded Not a Number Technologies (NaN) in June 1998 to further develop Blender, initially distributing it as shareware until NaN went bankrupt in 2002. NeoGeo was later dissolved, and its client contracts were taken over by another company. On January 1, 1998, Blender was released publicly online as SGI freeware. Some design choices and experiences for Blender were carried over from an earlier software application, called Traces, that Roosendaal developed for NeoGeo on the Commodore Amiga platform during the 1987–1991 period. The name Blender was inspired by a song by the Swiss electronic band Yello, from the album Baby, which NeoGeo used in its showreel. Version 1.00 was released in January 1995, with the primary author being company co-owner and software developer Ton Roosendaal. The Dutch animation studio NeoGeo (not related to Neo Geo video game hardware) started to develop Blender as an in-house application, and based on the timestamps for the first source files, Januis considered to be Blender's birthday. 10.6 Cosmos Laundromat: First Cycle (Project Gooseberry).10.3 Yo Frankie! Premium: Supports remote password synchronization, alerts, notifications, and rich reporting.Standard: Supports the basic credential vault.Of course, check the ManageEngine website for full details. Conveniently, ManageEngine does sell an MSP version that supports full multi-tenancy.īesides the free demo edition we've already seen, here's the edition breakdown that shows you what's available. It seems to me that if you work for a managed service provider (MSP), then PMP is a no-brainer purchase. Check out the following ManageEngine resources if you want deeper product knowledge: Wow-there is so much I could show you I feel we're barely scratching PMP's surface. This is good news for administrators who need consistent password policy on different operating systems and devices to conform to industrial/governmental regulatory compliance requirements. The following screenshot demonstrates how granular your PMP password policies can be. PMP can even automatically change account passwords on your schedule! (You may need to install an agent on the managed node for this to work.) For example, you can define one or more password policies and then deploy them to your stored connections. Of course, you should log into the demo instance as a "full" administrator to see how one makes the sausage, as it were. In this scenario, the PMP console serves as a gateway. 4: If the credential supports direct connection, you can use RDP, SSH, or Telnet directly from the PMP console to do so.3: Depending on your privilege level, you can change the credential's properties or reset the password.2: The credential entries clearly show the kind of resource.1: Each user can organize the credentials for which they have access to suit their convenience.PMP from a restricted admin's point of view You can log in as Administrator, Password Administrator, Password Auditor, or Password User to test role capabilities within the application.įor example, the following screenshot walks you through the case in which an outside contractor needs temporary SSH access to one of your Cisco IOS-based routers. ManageEngine hosts a live demo PMP instance that you should try out ASAP. That's true-I'm getting a bit ahead of myself. This password hiding, of course, means that PMP must have a browser-based direct connection scheme. This means you can restrict the ability of some PMP users to view the plain text passwords for your credential. Moreover, there's an important setting in the web console's General Settings page called Allow users to retrieve password for which auto logon is configured. Each sub-administrative group can accomplish limited tasks with your business's precious credential database. As I stated, the single, 80-ish MB installation package deploys a Java-based web server that uses PostgreSQL as its back-end data store.Īs shown in the following composite screenshot, you can obtain metadata about and manage the PMP server directly from the Windows Server notification area.Īs you can see, PMP uses a role-based access control (RBAC) model. I found the PMP technical documentation to be better than average as well. You can download a free PMP trial by visiting the ManageEngine website. The PMP Enterprise license also opens up its application programming interface (API), with which you can link your line-of-business code and administrative automations to the PMP credential vault. Note that you can build fault tolerance by deploying a read-only PMP secondary server. You'll want to make firewall exceptions from within your network perimeter for your managed devices and services as well as for the PMP bits. Study the previous diagram: By default, PMP uses PostgreSQL as its database back end, but you can alternatively use MySQL or Microsoft SQL Server (note: The SQL Server options require the PMP Enterprise license). Password Manager Pro architecture and traffic flow In September 2008, Spirit began placing advertisements on the side of aircraft, overhead bins, tray tables, seatback inserts and bulkheads. On June 3, 2008, Spirit Airlines made a WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notice) application to potentially relocate or lay off hundreds of pilots and flight attendants, and the closure of their San Juan and LaGuardia crew bases. In 2006, Spirit exercised options to order 30 Airbus A320-200 aircraft for further expansion. Spirit also began service to Grand Cayman, San Francisco, and Boston in 2006, and in 2007 filed DOT applications to offer service to Costa Rica, Haiti, the Netherlands Antilles and Venezuela. In the fall of 2003, Spirit resumed flights to Washington, D.C.'s Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, which were suspended after the September 11 attacks. In November 2001, Spirit inaugurated service to San Juan, Puerto Rico, and implemented a fully integrated Spanish-language customer service plan including a website and dedicated reservation line. Discrepancies were found in the marking and placarding of emergency equipment, passenger seats, storage areas and doors on eight of Spirit's DC9 and MD80 aircraft. In 2000, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) fined Spirit Airlines $67,000 for allegedly violating federal regulations on cabin and seat markings and placards. Prior to the decision to move the headquarters to Miramar, Spirit considered Atlantic City, New Jersey and Detroit, Michigan. It relocated its headquarters in November 1999, moving to Miramar, Florida, in the Miami Metropolitan Area. Spirit initially had their headquarters in Eastpointe, Michigan (formerly East Detroit) in Metro Detroit. At the time Spirit was utilizing DC-9 and MD-80 aircraft. In 1996, Janet Patton became Spirit Airlines' first woman pilot, and in 1998 she became the first woman captain. In response to criticism, Spirit Airlines said it would make sure all paid customers would always be able to fly to their destination, even if Spirit Airlines had to book them on a competitor's airline. The overbooking occurred because Spirit Airlines had given incorrect instructions to travel agents, causing those tickets not to be valid, even though the customers had paid for the flights. In the summer of 1994, Spirit Airlines overbooked flights, and 1,400 customers' tickets were canceled. During the next five years, Spirit expanded further, increasing service from Detroit and adding service in new markets such as Myrtle Beach, Los Angeles, and New York City. Flights between Atlantic City and Fort Myers, Florida, began on September 25, 1993. On April 2, 1993, Spirit Airlines began scheduled service to Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, and St. Scheduled flights between Boston and Providence began on June 15, 1992. Scheduled flights between Detroit and Atlantic City began on June 1, 1992. On May 29, 1992, Charter One brought jet aircraft into the fleet and changed its name to Spirit Airlines. In 1990, Charter One began scheduled service from Boston and Providence, Rhode Island, to Atlantic City. The airline service was founded in 1983 in Macomb County, Michigan, by Ned Homfeld as Charter One Airlines, a Detroit-based charter tour operator providing travel packages to entertainment destinations such as Atlantic City, Las Vegas, and the Bahamas. The company changed its name to Ground Air Transfer, Inc., in 1974. The company initially started as Clippert Trucking Company in 1964. |
